What is Counselling?
Within the profession, Counselling is usually defined as short in duration and specific in scope.
Counselling sessions focus on the root of a struggle that is directly related to a current experience or situation. Counselling sessions help alleviate pain and stress associated with the current difficulties. Counselling provides support for anyone navigating specific challenges in daily life such as issues with relationships, finances, addiction, work stresses, family of origin or chosen family, and health/pain difficulties.
Each session will focus on your unique needs and specific goals.

Mindfulness
A mindfulness practice increases our mental ability to be fully engaged and present in the current moment. Mindfulness increases our capacity to observe our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. Mindfulness has its roots in ancient contemplative practices, and is used in modern psychotherapy as a therapeutic technique.
The Key aspects of Mindfulness are present-moment-awareness, non-judgemental-observation, and acceptance.
Mindfulness can help reduce stress, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve focus and concentration, help develop healthier emotional regulation, enhance self-awareness, improve relationship satisfaction, pain management, improve sleep hygiene, enhance well-being, and can be a helpful component of trauma-focused therapy developing a deeper sense of safety and self-regulation.

Catalysing Change
The collaborative counselling journey creates space for us to explore our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe and supportive environment. This self-exploration fosters greater self-awareness, helping us understand the roots of our challenges and paves the way for long lasting catalysing change.
Therapy can support you to recognise patterns in your thoughts and behaviours, examine and challenge unhelpful perspectives, develop practical skills to replace negative patterns with healthier alternatives, and equip you with more effective coping strategies to navigate life’s difficulties more successfully.
Therapy can also address interpersonal dynamics, communication skills, boundary issues, encourage empathy, and build healthier relationships.

The Therapeutic Relationship
The therapy relationship, the treatment method, the individual therapist, and ‘You’ the client and each of ‘Your’ own unique combinations are all vital contributors to the positive outcomes of therapy.
It is really important to find the right therapist for ‘You’.
