Medicare Rebates

Unfortunately, Australia is lagging behind other countries and professionally trained and registered counsellors are still not eligible for Medicare rebates. The Psychotherapy and Counselling Body of Australia (Australia’s peek professional registering organisation -PACFA) is lobbying hard to rectify this situation and align Australia with both Britain and USA standards of clinical practice.

Until Australian counselling regulation laws change, Elemental’s fees will intentionally remain affordable. Elemental clients will likely pay less than an average gap payment if using a Mental Health Care Plan. This means Elemental clients are financially supported and can also engage in longer term therapy if required without the restrictions of dictated number of sessions stipulated by Medicare’s Mental Health Care Scheme.
